FM : Zionists should be forced to end Gaza blockade
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Saturday that the Zionist regime should be forced to put an end to the lockade of Gaza Strip.
Mottaki made the remark in the 36th OIC foreign ministerial meeting in Damascus on Saturday.
It is incumbent upon the OIC to adopt a practical approach to provide people in Gaza with fuel, medicines, foodstuff and other basic necessities, he said.
The Zionist regime which has committed inhuman crimes and atrocities in Gaza should be brought to justice, he said, adding that the Zionist regime still continues its aggressive policies in Lebanon, Golan heights and Palestine.
The Zionists are now bulldozing the homes of Palestinians to make a geographical as well as demographic change in the occupied lands mainly the holy Qods, he said and called on the OIC to seriously deal with such a plot.
All Palestinian groups should forge unity to protect their legitimate rights, Mottaki said adding that the Islamic states by adopting a suitable stand on the Zionists should remain committed to their pledges of imposing sanctions on the Zionist regime as well as forcing it to end the blockade of the Palestinian territories, he said.
The Zionist regime is the real threat to the entire region, he said and called for removal of this cancerous tumor.
Mottaki also called for formation of an independent Palestinian state with the holy Qods as its capital through a nationwide and democratic election with participation of all Palestinians.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that the government of President Hamid Karzai should be supported.
Afghan officials in recent years have made great efforts to restore peace, stability and development to the country while facing worsening security situation in the country, he said.
The Afghan government should be given enough time and opportunity to deal with the rampant insecurity in the war-torn country.
Dividing extremism into good and bad is not a suitable action, he said, adding that terrorists should not be given opportunity to interfere in the country’s political affairs because this which runs counter to international laws and regulations.
National reconciliation in Afghanistan should be under control of its government and should only involve those political parties which are truely committed to the country’s constitution, he pointed out.
The Islamic Republic of Iran which shares long borders with Afghanistan has a very profound, historical, religious and cultural affinity with the country and has done its best to maintain stability, security and welfare in Afghanistan.
It is incumbent upon regional countries to collectively cooperate to find a way out of this crisis and take suitable initiatives to this end, he said.
