Relation betweenIran and Sweden

The first historical document that regulated the relation of the two countries is the 1895 friendship treaty on trade between Iran and Sweden . The document was prepared in six chapters and was signed in Paris and according to that the reside of Iranian and Swedish consuls in different cities in different cities were predicted.

During the gears after , the relations of two countries were followed and in spite of long geographical distance, the appropriate developments had taken place.

In the years following the Islamic Revolution, we have seen other developments and that is immigration of considerable numbers of Iranians to Sweden, who are now an important and main factor in the relations of the two countries. These Iranians people who are now residing in Sweden and statistics show them to be more than seventy thousand, have a role in the promotion of contacts between Iran and Sweden.

Iran - Latvia relationship

The history of relation between Iran and Latvia is referred to 1920 era. The first friendship treaty, which has been signed between the two countries, in 1926, was a good sign of the willingness of both sides to set up and expand bilateral relations in different fields.

After the independence of Latvia in 1999, the diplomatic relations between the two countries was soon set up in September 1999 and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Stockholm, was accredited to Riga.

The geo-strategically situation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus and on the other side the position of the Republic of Latvia in the Eastern Europe and the Baltic Region has prepared the different kind of cooperation in the fields of Economy, Culture and Politics.

Now the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Stockholm is pleased to deliver different kind of services within the fields of Economic, cultural, consular and political affairs to the people of both countries and to others:
